About Me

Hi there! My name’s Stephen, and I’m a musician, composer/arranger, and audio engineer currently based out of Cincinnati, Ohio. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music in 2019 with a degree in Commercial Music Production . I’ve been playing the piano since I was 5 years old, and along the way have learned how to play a multitude of other instruments. On top of performing, I’ve also been writing my own music, both instrumental and with lyrics, for the past decade, pursuing recording and mixing, and freelancing within the live sound industry.

Now that you know a little bit about what I do, I’d love to tell you why I do it and what I hope to accomplish in the music industry. As I mentioned earlier, I started piano lessons when I was 5 years old. My enjoyment of the piano developed into a passion for music as I grew up. I constantly wanted to learn more. I wanted sheet music for Christmas! This trend continued up until it was time to make a decision about college. I thought for a while about studying engineering, mathematics, or computer science, but ultimately when I looked at my life up through that point, I realized that music had been a constant source of positivity and inspiration in my life, and I loved it too much to not pursue it. And so I wound up at the University of Cincinnati studying Commercial Music Production.

This program was very unique, as it dipped into most major aspects of the modern music industry, from recording techniques, to songwriting, to classical music theory, to music business. I continued to write and perform throughout college, joining several cover bands along the way. During this time, I discovered a love for the unique challenges that the recording studio environment offered - I got a thrill out of trying to make things sound as good as possible, and experimenting with unorthodox techniques, just to see what kind of results I could get.

Out of everything I have learned and practiced in the music industry so far, there are two particular aspects I know for sure that I would like to pursue in a long-term career:

1) I would like to continue to write. I have written pop songs, solo piano pieces, scored a ballet, a video game, and worked on a number of short films and advertisements. I have loved every second of it, and will continue to pursue it as long as it brings me joy!

2) I would like to help other people in the music industry build and develop their passion. I would love to do this by opening my own studio someday and helping to craft the “a-ha!” moment that I’ve had numerous times in my experiences up to this point.

Thanks for taking a little bit of time to get to know me, and I hope you enjoy what you hear!
